FAQ on the postponing of the XXIV ISPRS Congress to July 2021

I have registered for the XXIV ISPRS Congress, initially planned for 2020, and have paid the registration fee. As the Congress has been postponed, I now want to participate in the Congress in 2021. What do I need to do?

Nothing. All registrations for the 2020 Congress will be forwarded to the 2021 Congress, thus you are already registered for the 2021 Congress.

I have registered for the XXIV ISPRS Congress, initially planned for 2020, and have paid the registration fee. Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in 2021. How can I get refunded?

This depends on whether you have an accepted paper, which you want to have published. If this is the case, a nominal publication fee of 100,- € will be deducted from your payment, and the rest will be refunded to you. If at a later date, you decide that you will participate in the 2021 Congress, this publication fee will be deducted from the registration fee of the Congress.
If you do not want to publish a paper, your complete registration fee will be refunded. Note, that in both cases, depending where you live, bank charges may apply, which you would have to pay for. You can find all details about refunds at

Will the XXIV Congress postponed to 2021 have a separate set of proceedings?

Yes, indeed. All papers, which have been accepted for the XXIV Congress initially planned in 2020 will be published in the 2020 edition of the proceedings in July 2020, provided that either a registration fee for the 2021 Congress or a publication fee of 100,- € has been paid by June 1st, 2020.
We will then start a new submission and review process in early 2021. Papers accepted in this new process will be presented in the 2021 Congress and will be published in the 2021 proceedings edition, provided that a registration fee has been paid for each paper before April 12, 2021.

I have a paper accepted for the XXIV ISPRS Congress. Considering that the Congress has been postponed to 2021, what will happen to my paper?

We will publish the 2020 proceedings as initially planned. Your papers will be published in July 2020 in the 2020 edition of the proceedings of the XXIV ISPRS Congress, provided that by June 1st, 2020, for each paper one author has paid a registration fee for the Congress to be held in 2021, or a nominal publication fee of 100,- € per paper.

I want my paper, which was accepted for the XXIV ISPRS Congress in 2020, to be published in the 2020 edition of the proceedings, and I also want to participate in the Congress in 2021. Can I submit a new paper for the 2021 Congress?

Yes, by all means. If you pay the registration fee for the Congress by June 1st, 2020, this fee will cover two publications: the one in 2020 and another one in 2021, the latter obviously only in case your new paper will be accepted.

I want my paper, which was accepted for the XXIV ISPRS Congress, to be published. Unfortunately, I am not sure whether I will be able to participate in 2021. What should I do?

Your paper/s will be published in July 2020 in the 2020 edition of the proceedings, provided that by June 1st, 2020, you have paid a nominal publication fee of 100,- € per paper. If, at a later date, you decide that you will participate in the 2021 Congress, this publication fee will be deducted from the registration fee for the Congress.

Can my accepted paper for the 2020 edition of the Congress proceedings be presented at the Congress in 2021?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. The authors’ contributions for the XXIV ISPRS Congress were submitted in February 2020. The 2021 edition of the proceedings of the XXIV ISPRS Congress will be published at the beginning of June 2021. Thus, nearly 18 months will have passed. We believe that only new material and latest results should be presented in the 2021 Congress and published in the 2021 edition of the proceedings. Therefore, we encourage you to submit a new paper with your latest research results at the beginning of 2021.

My paper has been accepted for publication. I would like my paper to be published in the 2020 edition of the XXIV ISPRS Congress proceedings. I am not yet registered and my organisation does not allow me to register for an event that will be held in 18 months. Can you propose a solution?

The solution is that you pay the 100,-€ publication fee for your paper, which will be published in 2020, before the deadline of June 1st, 2020. If you decide to participate in the XXIV ISPRS Congress in July 2021, this amount will be deducted from your registration fee for 2021.

I have been awarded an ISPRS Foundation travel grant. Will my travel grant still be valid for the Congress in 2021?

No, a new call for travel grants will be opened by the ISPRS Foundation in 2021.

No, we will allow you to publish your paper free of charge in the 2020 edition of the XXIV ISPRS Congress proceedings.
